Pingogram app and website

Terms of use and disclaimer

The short version. Pingogram is free, open-source software provided as is. It is an independent Telegram client, not an official one, and using it means following Telegram's rules too.

Draft for legal review. Passages marked Review need a decision by Kyra Labs. This note and the marks are removed once the text has been checked.

The license

Pingogram is free software, made by Kyra Labs. You can use, study, share and change it under the GNU General Public License, version 3 or (at your option) any later version (GPL-3.0-or-later). The license also contains an additional permission, under section 7 of the GPL, to combine Pingogram with Google’s Play services and Firebase libraries, which the builds with “-gms” in their names need for push notifications (LICENSE-EXCEPTION.md).

The license is the full agreement about the software. Nothing on this page takes away any right the GPL gives you.

No warranty

Pingogram is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including the implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose, to the extent permitted by law. Pingogram is beta software: it may have bugs, miss messages or stop working when Telegram changes something. Keep the official app or another client at hand for anything important. In no event is Kyra Labs or any contributor liable for damages arising from the use of, or inability to use, the software, as set out in sections 15 and 16 of the GPL. Not affiliated with Telegram

Pingogram is an independent, third-party client. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Telegram. It uses TDLib, Telegram’s official open-source client library, and the public Telegram API.

“Telegram” is a trademark of Telegram FZ-LLC. Pingogram uses the name only to say what the app works with, as in “a Telegram client” or “your Telegram account”. Pingogram does not use Telegram’s logo, icons, stickers or other artwork; its name, logo and design are its own.

Using Pingogram with Telegram

  • You need a Telegram account, and you must follow Telegram’s Terms of Service while you use it, in Pingogram as in any other Telegram app.
  • Pingogram follows the Telegram API Terms of Service: it identifies itself honestly to Telegram, shows Telegram’s sponsored messages in channels as Telegram requires, and has no features for spam, automation, scraping or getting around Telegram’s limits. Please don’t use it for those either.
  • Your account, your messages and your data are between you and Telegram. Kyra Labs cannot recover an account, restore deleted messages or act on Telegram’s behalf.

Third-party software

Pingogram includes open-source software by others, each under its own license, among them TDLib (Boost Software License 1.0), Google Sans Flex (SIL Open Font License 1.1) and Material Symbols (Apache License 2.0). The app lists every library it contains, with its license, in Settings → About → Open-source licenses. See Open source for more.

Changes

These terms may change, for example when the app gains new features. The date at the top shows the last change. Review: governing law and jurisdiction, if any
